ALGERIA - TRAVEL ADVICE

AUSTRALIAN DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TRADE

"Reconsider your need to travel" - Safety and security - The US Embassy in Algiers has issued a message advising that it has "instructed embassy employees to avoid US owned or operated hotels through the US Independence Day (4 July) and Algerian Independence Day (5 July) holiday weekend. As of June 2014, an unspecified terrorist group may have been considering attacks in Algiers, possibly in the vicinity of a US branded hotel." We urge Australians to heed this advice.
