Canada: Blizzard causes flight cancellations

Halifax is experiencing harsh winds and heavy snowfalls since yesterday, February 13, following a blizzard in the region. Multiple flights have been cancelled at Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John airports, with over 100 flights cancelled at Halifax International airport, reports Global News.

Winds have reached 110km/h in Osborne Head, just outside Halifax. The storm is expected to pass through on Tuesday.

The blizzard has forced local authorities in Halifax to shut down public transportation, ferries and other municipal services as a precaution.

A flood warning has been issued in Halifax Metro and Halifax County West due to the risk of a storm surge and large waves.
