Refund procedures for cancelled Houston flights

Airlines are starting to count the cost of Hurricane Harvey’s impact on flights through Houston’s airports. With more than 5 000 flights already cancelled and more rain expected to fall in the area, airlines are issuing rebooking and refund policies. advises passengers to stay in touch with airlines for the most up-to-date information on flight status.


Delta Air Lines: Passengers are entitled to a refund on the unused portion of a ticket where flights are cancelled or have a significant delay (90 minutes or more). A one-time change to a ticket can be made without a fee being charged for flights to, from and through IAH and HOU. If rescheduled travel occurs beyond September 20, 2017, the change fee will be waived but a difference in fare may apply. Refer to TI for full details.


Emirates Airline: Flights EK211 and EK212 between Dubai and Houston up to August 31 have been cancelled. Passengers holding tickets to/from Houston are advised to contact their local Emirates office and check the status of their flight here.


United Airlines: The airline’s website has issued the following information. Flights to and from Houston are cancelled until noon, August 31. Additional flights to and from Texas and the Gulf Coast may be affected. Click here for full travel waiver information.
