USA: Thousands of flights cancelled

Over 3 000 flights have been cancelled to and from airports in the northeast USA, the result of a severe snow storm, according to CNBC.

Airlines have cancelled flights to and from major airports in the Boston, Philadelphia and New York areas.

Airport officials have asked travellers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.

Airlines including United, Delta, JetBlue, American have waived change fees for travellers affected by the storm if those individuals move their trips to the coming days.
