France: transport unions announce strike

Transport unions in Paris say they will join the strike by French rail workers, planned for Thursday, March 22, according to The Local.

Unions representing workers from RATP, a Paris transport body, say they will be showing solidarity with striking SNCF workers. The strike notice, filed by seven out of nine unions, called for a walk-out from 21h00 on Wednesday, March 21, until 08h00 on Friday, March 23.

It is currently unclear how the strike will affect Metro and RER rail traffic. Metro employees have until 48 hours before the strike to declare whether or not they will join.

Commuters in Paris, and across France, should expect delays.
