New Ebola outbreak in DRC

3 August 2018

New Ebola outbreak in DRC – New cases of Ebola have been diagnosed in the northeast area of DRC, only days after the previous epidemic ended. The new outbreak is probably unrelated to the previous outbreak in the northwest, thousands of km away. This region is an active conflict area with difficult access, and home to more than a million displaced people. There is significant cross-border travel with Rwanda and Uganda.

There is no immediate danger to travellers in the region, but those planning to travel should keep up to date with the latest information from the WHO.
