Nigeria issues travel ban

Thu, 9 Apr 2015

There will be travel restrictions in Nigeria between 08h00 and 17h00 on April 11, as the country holds its Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.

Only vehicles accredited to observe or manage the elections as well as emergency vehicles will be allowed on to public roads during this time. “Further restrictions on vehicle or other movements may be imposed at short notice,” the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has warned.

Travellers are advised to avoid areas where there are political or other large public gatherings. Rallies or protests may be called at short notice and could disrupt travel.
