Nigeria: Meningitis outbreak kills over 140
An outbreak of meningitis has killed at least 140 people in several states of Nigeria, BBC reports.
It has been reported over the last week in six states and has so far infected more than 1 000 people.
Meningitis causes an acute inflammation of the outer layers of the brain and spinal cord.
While major cities have not yet been affected, travellers may want to receive a meningitis vaccination before heading to Nigeria.
